We're homeschoolers so we read lots of books everyday. But even before we started doing that, the kids always got to each pick a book before bed...I would read it to them to wind them down...and now that my oldest is learning to read, we sometimes pick one that she can read to us, as well.

I read with my babies several times a day, not just at bedtime. They already love books and love to hear me read (they look up at me when I do the voices, which is cute/funny). I heard from a elementary school teacher that a child should have read 2000 hours before they start school--must start early.

To promote literacy in my household, we read together as often as possible. We also take trips to the bookstore too.

This book just looks so cute to me for some reason! I think that the pictures on the front cover must be appealing to me.

I don't have kids, but I work with teachers and parents each and every day to teach literacy, second language acquistion and biliteracy. I'm always doing everything that I can to teach people how to teach biliteracy in a rigorous way. Plus I just love to read children's books on my own-they make me feel so young at heart.
